MANAUS, BRAZIL—Plotting out his schedule for the rest of the day, local sloth Jim Garra confirmed Monday that he was thinking of maybe hanging from a tree for another 80 or so hours. “I think I’ll just cling to this branch continually over the next three or four days and then also after that,” said the arboreal mammal, embracing the limb of a cecropia tree where he had also spent the previous 13 hours dangling. “I had plans to move a couple of inches higher, but that can certainly wait. I know, I know—I hung here all day yesterday, too, but I’m just finally getting into a groove. After I’m done, I’ll probably just grip this tree for a few more weeks, basically unmoving.” At press time, the sloth emphasized that if anyone wanted to hang out with him over the next couple decades, that was where he’d be chilling.
