NEW YORK—Following a five-year, multimillion dollar effort that surveyed citizens across the globe, a Columbia University study published Monday found that the pile remains the world’s most popular stack. “Our findings suggest that due to its versatility, style, and ease of use, piles are still the preferred method of putting one thing on top of another,” said the study’s lead author Dr. Dorothy Wendt, who described how amongst millions of respondents, a pile significantly outranked clumps, mounds, or heaps. “Interestingly, jumbles saw a steady increase in interest in our rankings. As expected, accumulations remain in dead last. When most individuals think of their favored way to put things together in a semi-organized manner, piles remain at the front of mind.” Wendt added that the team behind the study had unanimously disqualified pyramids and refused to discuss the matter further.
