WASHINGTON—Saying it was “high time” she made a more serious investment in her career, Vice President Kamala Harris confided to reporters Tuesday that she had joined a coworking space in the D.C. area. “It’s a pretty big expense to take on, but it ought to be worth it for the networking opportunities, which I’m hoping will be more plentiful in a place like this,” Harris said during a phone call, raising her voice to be heard over those seated near her in the open-concept space, where she reportedly pays for a non-dedicated spot that allows her to sit with her laptop at any open desk or on one of the sofas. “Today I’m between two women who seem to be making some sort of sales calls, so that’s kind of interesting. I haven’t really talked to anyone yet, but I’m sure I will eventually—maybe we can even pass each other some business. This place also has free cold brew coffee, which is a nice touch.” At press time, the vice president had reportedly canceled her coworking membership after realizing she could save the $150 monthly fee by just using the free Wi-Fi at a public library.
